Omar Diaz-Morales’ paintings feature organic abstraction and a light, unrestrained painterly line which converges ith semi’atmospheric fusions of acrylic and harcoal. Here and there more defined bushwork in the guise of drips, splotches, lines and symbols dominate the frame and at the same time become abruptly juxtaposed to playful 4 letter words that tease the reader’s overall intepretation of the pictorial surface.

Rendered in his signature white and jewel toned palette, Diaz-Morales’ paintings often span multiple canvases which he exhibits as diptychs or triptychs.

Inspired by his extensive international trael, his work reflects a cross-cltural hybridity and the idea of the image-maker as a polingual global citizen.

The artist was born in 1972 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where he currently lives and works. He has exhibited in New York, Miami, the Dominican Republica and Puerto Rico.
